The Events

1) THE COUNTING GAME asks contestants to count from any number, to any number, by any number. The numbers chosen will be appropriate for the grade level of the contestant. A designated number of points are awarded for each correct answer. Points will vary based on difficulty.
 
2) In MAGIC SQUARE, contestants will demonstrate their knowledge of wholes and parts, proportional thinking, and counting by completing math statements with numbers and symbols listed in the Magic Square grid. The math statements will be appropriate for each grade level. Creativity and accuracy count. Each correct answer is awarded points based on the judges’ assessment of the creativity.

3) Finally, the third event is a MENTAL MATH WORKOUT. Math problems are posed for the students to calculate mentally. No writing is allowed except for writing the final answer. Erasures and mark-outs are not permitted. Problems involve computation and problem solving appropriate for the grade level. Points are awarded for each correct answer.

                                         Judges’ decisions are final.
